As a composer, Kanding works in the intersection of emotion, intellect, and physical presence. Atmospheric music with a focus on soul and serenity, where lyrical melodies and harmonic depth invite reflection and a sense of calm. Abstract and experimental works for intellectual immersion, exploring complex structures and the challenging beauty of the unknown. As well as the kinetically vibrant, with a physical pulse driven by raw momentum, emphasizing the instinctive power of rhythm to activate the body and awaken the senses.
Kanding’s uniquely colorful timbres unite electronic and acoustic sound in complex textures, physical energy, and delicate simplicity. Kanding’s music is a sensory journey into the inner life, into the ambiguous – a hall of mirrors.
Kanding’s music is appreciated and programmed internationally at concerts and festivals, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. He is currently working on a premiere in 2027 of a piano quintet commissioned by the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME). In addition to the Danish Arts Foundation’s three-year grant and numerous working grants, Kanding has received several commissions from a variety of international ensembles. He holds an advanced postgraduate degree in composition, with a debut concert from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 1996.
